Review & submission

Comparison & margin

The Review tab is where everything priced in Quote Comparison comes together into the job's actual numbers. It has two tabs of its own: Comparison / Margin and Clarifications & Exclusions.

Comparison / Margin

This is where the picked prices from every trade roll up, trade by trade, into the job's cost — and where margin is applied to turn that cost into what you're actually charging. It's the working view for checking the shape of the price before it goes anywhere near a client: which trades are carrying the job, where the margin sits on each one, and what the bottom line comes to.

The prices you see here trace straight back to what you picked in Quote Comparison — Review doesn't recalculate anything independently. Change a pick on a trade and the number here moves with it. See Pick the price if you haven't settled every trade yet.

Margin comes from the company default — once

Every new tender is stamped with your company's default margin at the moment it's created. From then on, that tender's margin is its own — changing the company default afterwards never reaches back and re-prices a tender that already exists, submitted or not.

That's deliberate. Nobody wants a change to next month's standard margin quietly moving the number on a job that already went out the door. If a specific tender's margin needs adjusting, do it on that tender's Review page directly, trade by trade if you need to.

What to check before moving on

Before you move on to writing clarifications or building the submission, Comparison / Margin is worth a last pass: confirm every trade has a picked price (not just a plausible-looking one), and that the margin on each trade reflects how you actually want to price that part of the job — some trades reasonably carry a different margin than others, and a trade that's still mostly leads will drag the total down until it's settled.

Treat this pass as the last honest look at the job before it becomes a document. Once you're satisfied with what's here, the notes in Clarifications & Exclusions and the layout on Submission are what turn these numbers into something you send.
