Cubit pricing in 2026: editions, the 12-month term, add-ons

Every Cubit edition, what monthly billing commits you to, and what costs extra, from Buildsoft's own pages. Then why one Estimator+ seat costs more, and what it buys.

In short

  • Cubit Estimating is $170, $226 or $255 +GST per user a month if you pay yearly, or $204, $271 or $305 if you pay monthly. And every edition comes with a 12-month minimum term.
  • Paying monthly just spreads the bill out. You're still signed up for the year, and Buildsoft's own small print calls it an "annual subscription, billed monthly".
  • Want shared jobs or BIM takeoff? That's Enterprise. Quote comparison is Cubit Select, a second subscription with its own 12-month minimum, and AI Estimating is a $20 add-on at an early adopter rate.
  • Yes, a Cubit seat costs less than an Estimator+ seat. Ours is A$450 a month ex GST, billed monthly with no contract, and its AI does the takeoff.

So what does Cubit actually cost?

So you're trying to work out what Cubit's going to cost you for the year, and the pricing page has six different numbers on it plus a fair bit of small print. Yep, we've been through it. Here's what it says.

Cubit Estimating costs $170 to $255 +GST per user per month billed yearly, and $204 to $305 billed monthly. Those are Buildsoft's "starting from" prices in Australian dollars, as read on its pricing page on 2 October 2026.

EditionPaid yearlyPaid monthly
Standard$170$204
Professional$226$271
Enterprise$255$305

All six figures are per user, per month, plus GST. Buildsoft says paying yearly can "Save up to 16%".

There's one spot where the page disagrees with itself, which is a bit annoying. The FAQ says "Cubit Estimating Standard edition starts at $167 +GST", but the Standard price card says $170. The FAQ looks older than the card, so we'd treat the card as current. And get your own price in writing anyway.

Can't you just pay monthly and stop whenever?

Nope. Both columns are prices for a yearly subscription. Look under $170 and the small print reads "annual subscription, billed annually". Under $204 it reads "annual subscription, billed monthly". Same year, different payment schedule.

The FAQ settles it pretty plainly: "All Cubit Estimating subscriptions have a minimum 12-month term." It adds that "Longer terms are available." Shorter ones? Not published.

So monthly billing spreads the payments, but you're still in for the twelve months. Picture it's a flat-out month and you add a seat for one big tender. That seat's a 12-month commitment. So is a seat you take on just to try Cubit beside the software you already use, which, honestly, is exactly when you'd want an easy way out.

That makes the renewal date the one worth circling on the calendar. If you're weighing up a move, the term sets when it can actually happen, no matter when you make the call.

What do you get in each edition?

Three editions, priced per user, and each one stacks on top of the edition below it. Buildsoft pitches Standard "for solo estimators and small builders running residential or light commercial jobs". Enterprise is for "Quantity Surveyors, commercial builders, and estimating teams working on complex projects".

Buildsoft's own comparison table separates the editions on these seven rows.

FeatureStandardProfessionalEnterprise
Cubit Select linkNoYesYes
Bill of QuantitiesNoYesYes
Custom Report BuilderNoYesYes
Read-only accessNoYesYes
Shared Job AccessNoNoYes
Job RefreshNoNoYes
BIM takeoff from IFC filesNoNoYes

If you're a commercial team, it's really the sharing rows that pick the edition for you. Two estimators in one job? That's Enterprise, at $255 or $305 a seat. Buildsoft's product page says Shared Job Access splits the work by trade, with each estimator in charge of their own.

So what costs extra?

Here's the thing with quote comparison. Cubit Select is what compares your subcontractor quotes, and Buildsoft sells it as a product of its own, on its own 12-month minimum term. Bundled with Cubit Estimating, its price card reads $114 +GST a month paid yearly or $137 paid monthly, while its FAQ says "from $112". Same story as before, then. The card and the FAQ don't quite line up.

Then there's AI Estimating, which adds four takeoff tools: Auto Scale & Name, Count Symbols, Auto Area and Scan Text. It's $20 +GST per user a month at an "early adopter rate", and what it costs after that isn't published.

Cloud Setup hosts Cubit for you, at a "Price tailored to your team size and usage". The cloud page says extra storage costs more, and so does moving your data from a local server.

One more you'll want to know about. The 14-day trial runs on the Enterprise edition with AI Estimating included. When it ends, you get the edition you pay for.

So if you want Buildsoft's quote comparison too, you're looking at two subscriptions, each with a 12-month minimum of its own.

What to ask before you sign or renew

Six things we'd get sorted first.

  1. The term. How long are you committing for, and what date does it renew?
  2. The edition. Shared Job Access and BIM takeoff are Enterprise rows, and the trial runs on Enterprise, so price the edition you'll actually use day to day.
  3. Cubit Select. Work out whether you need it before you sign, because it's a second subscription.
  4. The AI price. Ask what AI Estimating will cost once the early adopter rate's over.
  5. Hosting. If you're going with Cloud Setup, get a written quote that covers storage and moving your data.
  6. The figure itself. The card and the FAQ don't agree on Standard, so get your price in writing.

So why's an Estimator+ seat A$450?

Look, per user, a Cubit seat costs less than an Estimator+ seat. On every edition, whichever way you pay. One Estimator+ seat is A$450 a month ex GST, and the gap mostly comes down to one question: who's doing the takeoff?

In Estimator+, measuring is the AI's job. Your AI app runs the takeoff in Claude Code or Codex and measures the whole set. Every quantity is measured on the drawing at each sheet's scale, and nothing is typed in.

And it stops at the quantities. It won't put a rate on a line unless you ask, and it can't pick a quote or set a margin, so the money decisions stay with your estimator. Which is where we reckon they belong.

What that does is move your estimator's paid hours from measuring to checking the takeoff, chasing quotes and settling exclusions. That's the work we'd weigh the seat against. Lining it up against another program's per-user price doesn't tell you a lot.

There aren't any editions to choose between, either. Every seat has the AI takeoff, the live tender your whole team works in at once, quote comparison beside the takeoff lines, review and the submission. Uploaded drawings get read and named from their title blocks, with no separate charge.

It's billed monthly with no contract, so a renewal date never gets to decide when you change course. The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, which you already pay for, and Estimator+ adds no AI credits or usage fees on top. The pricing page has the detail.

Got a tender you priced in Cubit? Book a demo on that one, and set the A$450 against the takeoff you watch it do.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Cubit Estimating cost?

On 2 October 2026, Buildsoft listed Cubit Estimating at $170, $226 or $255 +GST per user a month paid yearly, for the Standard, Professional and Enterprise editions. Pay monthly and the same editions are $204, $271 or $305. Either way, every edition has a minimum 12-month term.

Can you pay for Cubit monthly and cancel whenever you like?

No, unfortunately. Buildsoft's monthly prices are for an annual subscription billed monthly, and its FAQ says every Cubit Estimating subscription has a minimum 12-month term. Shorter terms aren't published.

Is quote comparison included in Cubit Estimating?

No, it's a separate product called Cubit Select, with its own 12-month minimum term. Bundled with Cubit Estimating, its price card reads $114 +GST a month paid yearly or $137 paid monthly. And the Standard edition doesn't include the link to Cubit Select.

What does Cubit's AI Estimating add-on cost?

AI Estimating is $20 +GST per user a month on any edition, which Buildsoft calls an early adopter rate. You get four tools: Auto Scale & Name, Count Symbols, Auto Area and Scan Text. What it'll cost after the early adopter rate isn't published.

Why does an Estimator+ seat cost more than Cubit?

Fair question. A Cubit seat costs less per user. An Estimator+ seat is A$450 a month ex GST, billed monthly with no contract. Its AI does the takeoff of the drawing set, and every seat includes the live tender, quote comparison and submission. The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, and Estimator+ charges no AI credits.
